Flu vaccine is recommended in pregnancy. BUT it should only be administered in the injectable form.
Vaccinating pregnant women protects both mom & baby from influenza. ProphylaxisPregnant women who are close contacts with persons with suspected, probable or confirmed cases should receive chemoprophylaxis.
Oseltamavir (Tamiflu) 75mg qd x 10 days. |
TreatmentPregnant women with confirmed, probable suspected H1N1 infection should receive empiric antiviral treatment.
Oseltamavir (Tamiflu) 75mg bid x 5 days. BreastfeedingContinue breastfeeding despite influenza infection but consider wearing a face mask when near your baby and expressing breast milk for the baby.
